The 2nd Islamabad Marathon, which took place on January 29, 2023, was an amazing event that brought together nearly 1,500 excited runners from all over Pakistan. The race drew a lively crowd of over 3,000 people, creating an energetic atmosphere with the stunning Margalla Hills in the background. Once again, a significant number of people from the expat community participated, and the Embassy of Denmark officially joined the Islamabad Marathon. The Ambassador of Denmark even ran the full marathon distance and praised the efforts to organise such a large scale event.

Runners had a breathtaking journey through the scenic beauty of Islamabad as they followed the famous Margalla Road nestled in the foothills. Their route took them through the picturesque Shakarparian National Park, tackling the challenging 21.1 and 42.2 km courses. The scenic routes provided a unique blend of nature and athleticism, making the event a memorable experience.

Adam’s Milk Foods proudly sponsored the marathon, and it also saw active participation from the international and diplomatic communities residing in Pakistan, promoting unity through sport.

In collaboration with the Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme, Islamabad Run with Us (IRU) made dedicated efforts to raise awareness about the crucial cause of eradicating polio from Pakistan. Additionally, in partnership with the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), the marathon aimed to champion the conservation of wildlife and the environment within the Margalla Hills National Park, highlighting the importance of preserving this natural heritage.
